Humara Bachpan requires Communication Officers | DEL-MUM-BBSR

Job Opportunity:
Humara Bachpan campaign requires communication officers who will be dealing with Media nationally in major cities and more focused with Delhi Media.

Location: Delhi/ Mumbai/ Bhubaneswar (The person will have to frequent travel no matter wherever he/she is based)

Job description:
• Establish close rapport with journalists both in English and vernacular in print and electronic media
• Create media materials and a portfolio of articles related to HBC's work and objectives. 
• Support the team to organize Press briefings and Press Conferences periodically
• Write and disseminate regular press releases, support press briefings, and editorials for distribution to the media
• Develop and oversee production of print materials for press kits, media trainings, and interactions with the media
• Collate and create content for internal newsletters and ensure all publications are published as per the deadline
• Engage with the media periodically and take them on "tours" to fields for exposure visit.
• Coordinate with the casework teams to document news/stories from the field (for print and video)

Teamwork
Maintain open lines of communication with HBC team members and partners across the country. Create content & storytelling pieces in coordination with all Casework and Advocacy departments in order to facilitate professional, timely communications of HBC work and the issue of children growing up in urban poverty to the media and public audiences.

Travel Requirements
• Travel for documentation, collecting case stories, meetings and conferences and managing media in different Indian cities

Required Skills and Experience
• Master or Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications.
• 3-4 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to identify "news" and peg stories to suit the audience. Need to be able to write compelling stories, articles and press releases quickly and independently.
• Expertise in using Microsoft Suite Software and server-client networks.
• Experience in using Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Pagemaker or/and InDesign)
• Strong editorial eye and proofing skills. Ability to convey message and image through written, visual and oral communication.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English, Hindi and one more Indian Language. Knowledge of Multiple other languages are preferred
• Organized, meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience with branding and use of social media is essential.

ABOUT HBC
"Humara Bachpan'' is a national campaign on living conditions for young children in urban poverty. The campaign calls for inclusion of child friendly components in the urban renewable policies such as Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Rajiv Awash Yojana (RAY).
- Facilitate children forums, network with organisations working with children to advocate for a safe physical environment for children.
- Understand how young children understand and use their physical environment.
- Create opportunities for children and teenagers' participation and leadership through an empowering process.
- Respect young children's creative thinking and capacities to advocate for change.
- Educate policy makers, practitioners and the civil society about research outcomes and processes onimportance of safe and healthy physical space in the development of young children.
- Ensure change in urban renewal and related urban development programs and policies such as JNNURM and RAY. And lobby for inclusion of a separate chapter on children's participation to make it more child friendly.
